I've decided to reveal what the spells say!
I have come to regret the decision I made regarding the spellcasting languages used in the comic. When I began, I didn't want to just do simple English substitution ciphers for them because it felt lacking in verisimilitude. They were speaking different languages, not English. And then, rather than allow myself to go wild with conlangs, I decided on a middle ground of plugging things into Google translate and having the spells be cryptograms for other languages. I had fun designing the alphabets for them.
However in making this choice I neglected to fully consider the reader experience, and how many people enjoy both the puzzle of decoding things like this, and seeing the hidden messages. I've realized now that by using unspecified and (often poorly-translated) other languages, I've deprived you all of this fun.
So, as another middle ground, I've decided to go through the archive and add spell translations for you all. After all, using the same logic for why I felt it didn't matter that you couldn't read them (they don't say anything important), there's no harm in you knowing what they say.
Perhaps the puzzle of reverse translation can still be a fun challenge. I won't spell out exactly which languages were used, but there are hints.
The translation for this page in particular is very rough (the worst of the lot I think). In many cases I didn't write down anywhere the original phrase I used, and working backwards this one was a bit gibberish, but this is pretty much what it was supposed to be:
Saga: Ancient spirit, I summon you from the void. Come forward and speak to me.
